Authorities close travel agency responsible for Hurghada bus accident


Egyptian authorities on Sunday closed down the branch of the travel agency that had organized the trip for the tourists who were killed on Friday when their bus overturned in the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada.

Red Sea Governor Magdi al-Qubeisi referred company officials to public prosecutors to be questioned about their alleged roles in organizing illegal and unauthorized trips. 

Al-Qubeisi also reportedly sent a memo to Tourism Minister Zuhair Garrana in which he asked the latter to withdraw the license of the South Sinai Travel Agency, which owned the ill-fated bus.

Nine tourists of different nationalities were killed and 30 others injured in the accident.




Three Russian and 2 Ukraine tourists were among 9 people killed. Police are investigating Friday's crash to determine the nationality of the other victims.
The victims were Russians, Ukrainians, Belarus, Kyrgystan, Georgia,Denmark, Turkey, Czech Republic, Germans, Belgian and Egyptian. 

The accident resulted from speeding. 
The bus driver did not react to tourists’ requests to slow down!
The tour bus flipped over several times on the winding mountain road. The driver lost control of the bus because he was driving to fast on the highway and the vehicle rolled over.
